my right leg
After having spent nearly a month at University of Louisville I was transferred by ambulance to Franciscan Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. My wife, Donna, had already been moved from University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington to Franciscan. We were finally re-united. We were not in the same unit but were at least in the same hospital!
It was a long, tiring ride from Louisville to Dayton yet it only took a few hours. I was healing but still very weak. I was excited at the prospect of seeing Donna but also anxious. I knew she had suffered a brain injury and I had heard her talk on the phone. I still didn't know what she would be like.
Donna and her Mother visited me soon after I had been settled in my room. I was exhausted and very weak but it was very good to see her. Her speech was very slow and awkward. She was weak, too, and in considerable pain. Neither of us could talk very long.
