I finally finished the waterfall feature for my pond after over six years. Funny thing how a head on collision can slow you down. My first attempts at the waterfall were pretty lame. It leaked like a sieve and there was too little water flow to make things interesting. I started out with a 350 gallon per hour pump which was way too small. My new 1250 gph is just about right.
My favorite fish is my gold-colored butterfly koi. I know that my pond is really too small for the number and size of fish that I have. I've culled once- had many shubunkins and they were reproducing. I gave most of the shubunkins away last year and now have 2 shubunkins and 5 koi.
Although crowded or overpopulated my remaining fish seem to be doing pretty well and the water chemistries check out ok.
I've had the koi for over five years and am attached to them but am planning on giving several away sometime this summer.
If you know of someone in the Dayton, OH area who'd like a couple of koi have them email me from the link below.
If you have comments or suggestions, me.
