April 6th -- Reported 8 men & one corporal for Picket. Had some bread & milk from condensed milk. Rather a fine day.

April 7th -- Gid Prindle goes on duty today & I am free. Have to go on Guard pretty soon I suppose. Two men for Guard to day. Had a breakfast of potatoes & fresh beef & Bread. Bully.

April 8th -- Fine day but Converse & Beach have to go on Picket & it leaves me alone most of the time. Wrote to Jube Wheeler today. Got a paper for Sid & a letter for John from him. . Freeze a little to night.

April 9th -- Nice day, very pleasant. Boys came in from Picket. Dress parade, no orders! Guess we shall have a muester in a day or two.

10th -- Very pleasant day. I am excused from Guard duty for doing the writing for the Capt.

11th -- Pleasant day. Inspection this A.M. at 2 o'clock. Can't think of anything to write.

12th -- Do the writing for the Company and am excused from Guard duty. Very fine weather. Get orders to get ready to march. Perhaps we are going to the front. Packed up my extra blanket with Charley S. & Rollin & sent it Home.

April 13th -- Another very fine day. All ready to march. Carried the box to the Quartermasters, put it on the Wagon. Made out description lists & guess we shall not move now. The rumor is that the order is countermanded.

Apr. 14th -- This morning we had to give up 5 A tents. Before they were down the rest of our tents had to go too. The officers have nothing but shelter tents either so we are ready for the field. Our shelter tents on our stockade are about as good as an A tent. It is another fine warm day and if we move at all, which very much doubt, we shall move in a storm.

Apr. 15th -- The weather has changed & it rains dismally. It commenced last night & rained all day. Our tents hardly kept the rain off us.
