Our Next ConcertOur Music Director, John Steinke, decided he would like to program a concert of different pieces of music that meant something special to him, some of his personal Milestones. And so, the Knightwind Ensemble will perform these pieces on Sunday November 22nd at 3 PM in the Schwan Concert Hall, 88th and Wisconsin. The first classical piece that Mr. Steinke heard as a child was the Fifth Symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich. The Ensemble will perform the Finale from that symphony. Mr. Steinke says that upon hearing the piece, he was sold on music as his calling. Also on the program is Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas Music, and
the March from the Symphonic Metamorphosis by Paul Hindemith.
The stories of how those pieces became milestones will have to wait for the
concert. |
