Looking for a VERY special home! Sunshine (ARPH #11719 ) is a 2 year old black tri female. Sunshine was taken from the inter city of Kansas City by a group that tries to insure that dogs and cats have adequate shelter and food and water. They also try to offer low cost spaying and neutering to people with pets to stop the over population. Luckily, they spotted Sunshine and could tell immediately that she had recently had a litter of puppies, even though she was skin and bones and had a dry and matted coat. When asked where her puppies were they were told “Gone”. They then got permission to just take Sunshine.
Originally they thought Sunshine was a sheltie and someone had docked her tail. Sheltie rescue set them straight and told them to contact Aussie Rescue. So we stepped in. This poor girl just broke our hearts. She was so emaciated. And so starved for attention. She had some puncture wounds on her leg and her ligaments were wounded so she was walking on the top of her toes. But, underneath all that, she was loving and thrived on attention. And food. We’ve never seen a dog SO food motivated. Sunshine uses her nose to seek affection. Because of her background she is somewhat needy and will need a person that understands that and will give her the attention she needs, but will also let her know gently when enough is enough. Sunshine will then go off and curl up in a ball in a soft place and sleep or watch every move you make. Sunshine loves to ride in the car and play with other dogs. She can be a little bossy at first meeting other dogs, and around food, but will settle into a routine nicely. Sunshine has a bit of a wobble in her rear legs and the vet thinks she might have been hit by a car or had some damage to her leg from a chain. It does not stop Sunshine from running or jumping or counter surfing! We’ve gotten all her mats shaved off and expect her coat to come back in as soft as the hair on her face and the look in her eyes. Sunshine is being crate trained although she prefers to sleep in the bed with you. If you are a special person, who can see that this girl needs a special home with a soft bed and plenty of good food and affection, please contact pgl@kc.rr.com. Sunshine is located in the Kansas City area. More pictures soon.

Nikki (ARPH 5154) is a very loving dog. She wants to be either right next to
us or within sight. She loves riding in the car with us, sticking her head out a
window, and waiting for us in the front seat. She’s a quiet dog and never barks
in the car. In the house she only barks when someone rings the doorbell but
greets all with a wagging tail.
Nikki is very social and loves people. She has dog friends but can be cranky
with strange dogs.
Nikki is very smart and obedient. She especially loves her walks and being
patted.
Nikki sleeps in our room and will sleep as long as we do. When we leave, she
always wants to come, too. But if we say “bye, bye”, she knows that means we’re
going without her but will be back. She immediately runs upstairs to her
favorite bed.
Nikki loves to hike. If several folks are hiking together on a trail and get
spread out, her herding instinct kicks in and she’ll run from the front of the
group to the back and back and forth.
Nikki loves her walks and hikes but does not need excessive exercise in order to
remain calm and settled down at home. She’s quite laid back. One walk a day is
all she really needs.
She rolls over for her tummy rubs, lies quietly under the table while we’re
eating, follows us all over the house or plants herself on the stairway landing
so she’ll know which way we’re going next when we’re busy. Sometimes she watches
TV when an animal show is on. She likes to get under something like a tall bed
or behind a chair when there are big thunderstorms.
Nikki’s a good traveler. She’s fine in motels and in the car when left alone
while we go into a restaurant.
Nikki is about eight and a half years old. Nikki's owners adopted her from
aussierescue when she was about three and now due to personal circumstances,
they must find her a new home.. She’s in excellent health. Nikki is located in
the Kansas city area. Her adoption fee is $200 and you must complete an
application
