Amun-Re 2008 Spielbyweb BPA Online Tournament

Welcome to the Home Page of the 2008 Boardgame Players Association's (BPA) Spielbyweb Online "PBEM" Tournament. This year's tournament will be co-run by Arthur Field and Kevin Wojtaszczyk. Tom Dunning will be an Assistant GM. Website last updated on 6/15/2009.

Important Reminder
Please check your game at least once a day and perform your turns in a timely manner. You must use the vacation away function if you will be not able to check your game due to being out on vacation. Remember, slow play will be penalized as listed below and each game turn's date/time automatically records in the game log. As long as you are checking the site at least once a day, you will have no issues.

2008 Tournament Thoughts

Thank you for everyone who participated in the tournament and good luck to our semi-finalists as they head on toward the final. For next year if you have any ideas on how we might run the tournament better, just let Arthur or I know. One suggestion we have is running 2 games at once each round, thus adding a 6th game for the preliminary round and cutting the time frame in half. When we stretch the preliminary rounds over 8 months, we seem to hit every person's vacation, thus slowing things down alot. If we can wrap up the preliminary round by the end of January, that would avoid spring-break/Easter vacation holidays, and would insure us completion and plaque awarding at the WBC. Another thought is to have seeding order be the only tie-breaker for tie's in the semi-finals and final, thus giving less demand to have to build alot of pyramids in case of a tie and give players more incentive during the preliminary round games.

Greg started the game with an impressive 22 pt old kingdom score turn 3. He then managed to hold on, though having least money heading into the new kingdom, to keep the victory. Managing to get Damanhur early to have some temple scoring in the end proved critical as the sacrifice hit the 3 level at game end. Overall it was a close game and very well played. So watch you if any of the below are sitting at your Amun-Re table this coming WBC!
