E32 Presents

A CELEBRATION OF TRIBES MAGAZINE #12

Where poetry and art meet in the down and dirty heart of Bohemia!
The "Last Salon", Steve Cannon's performance space and gallery, known as "A Gathering of the Tribes", has published issue 12 of its art and poetry magazine. With over a hundred pages the journal features full color artwork by stars such as Louise Bourgeois and Thomas Nozkowski. The cover art by Willie Birch echoes the original premier issue's cover art by David Hammons.
Cannon, affectionately known as the Blind Professor, started Tribes in his apartment in 1991. Tribes is a survivor and represents a special niche, serving the LES and hosting regular readings, critically acclaimed art shows and workshops.
On Tuesday, August 18 at 7pm, six of the artists and two poets will present work from the magazine at 5C Cultural Center and Cafe. The delightful bohemian venue with its corner windows overlooks the intersection of 5th Street and Avenue C. Artwork will be projected on a screen and the artists will discuss it. Please join us for a low key, informal evening of intimate magic.

E32's proposed upcoming shows include:
Prep for NYFA
See your work projected as it will be seen by the NYFA review board.
The Ex-Boyfriend Show
this show will include art, sociological and anthropological paraphernalia from extinct relationships. For information email exboyfriendshow@gmail.com
The 9-11 Memorial Show
This show will review the different responses to 9-11, both solemn and contentious, and open with a moment of silence for those who died both on and in response to 9-11.
My Dream Show
Artist will be allowed 20 jpgs, 5 of which will be their own work, and 15, the work of artists they admire. Each artist will be given three minutes to show their Dream Show presentation and another two mintues for questions. The idea is that artists talk about art very differently than art historians. This show may become a series.
