2008 The Hill Mangurian Tape Collection
I worked for Rena Kozersky tracking down heirs of musicians recorded by David Mangurian and Donald Hill who had spent their summer vacations recording musicians in the South, St. Louis and Chicago for their Pamona College radio show back in the early 60's. My job was helping Rena find the musicians or their families and get their permission to donate the recordings to the Library of Congress.

SACRED HARP
I fell in love with Sacred Harp while I was working with Matt Barton at The Alan Lomax archives.
In 2004, Matt connected me with The Living Room and I wrangled some experienced singers and 'produced' the "The Lower East Side Shape Note Sing". Then I got press in TimeOutNY, The Villager and The NY Sun and at WNYC's Soundcheck. That led to a Time Magazine article by David Van Biema and Matt and I were in the picture.
Other Sacred Harp events I participated in included Rick Wakeman's BBC documentary on Amazing Grace, (I esp. love the shot of me at 1:01 minutes because it looks like Judy Collins voice is coming out of my mouth.)
And I'm obviously very proud of getting to sing with and for Marcia Tucker. That video appears in my home page.

FLAMENCO
After taking flamenco a couple of years I noticed that the other students wanted performance experience so I put together two volunteer performances
at the Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehibilitation. The effect of music and dance on the geriatric mind is amazingly positive. They become more social, more communicative, have better appetites. Putting these the dancers together with the nursing home was very, very rewarding.
OTHER PAINTINGS
"The
Shoe Series" Paintings of Dancer's Shoes done for my friends and in one instance, for money
I got my love of a good project from my mother in Tulsa, Oklahoma whose most recent project is a choral group, "The Villagers", who sing at retirement communities and from my grandmother decided to raise money to save the old town pump by starting a town festival, The Jewel City Jubilee in Ruby, South Carolina.
