CENTEX CHAPTER
CENTEX MONTHLY MEETING - November 21, 2009
Saturday, November 21, 2009
8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
In Re-Visionary Writing, author Allison Pittman will teach revision techniques to bring new life to dead words. Learn how to create multi-dimensional characters, add subtext to dialogue, and breath to beats.Bring up to three pages of a struggling scene so you can immediately apply these techniques to your manuscript. The words are on the page. Setting established, properly punctuated dialogue, conflict, characters, plot. But something's missing. Somehow, the scene on the page is just that-on the page. In Re-Visionary Writing, author Allison Pittman will lead you through specific, hands-on techniques to bring new life to dead words. Throughout the course of this day-long workshop, you will scrutinize your scenes looking for ways to bring depth and dimension to the flatness on the page. Specifically, we'll address bringing dimension to characters, subtext to dialogue and breath to beats. Come ready to create a new scene in a guided workshop. In addition, bring 1-3 pages of a WIP so you can immediately apply these tools of the revision to a struggling scene.

Who Should Attend? Act One Conferences welcome all professional and aspiring writers, producers and entertainment executives. If your state says you're old enough for high school, you're old enough for our seminar. We don't care what church you attend, or how you vote - if you love Jesus and love the idea of creating film and television, come spend a life-changing weekend with us. Bring a pen, a sense of humor, and an open heart and ready mind. You Should Know...Our sessions are packed with film and television clips. Some of them include brief instances of adult subject matter and language. We do our best to present these clips in a Christian context, but they don't necessarily represent the worldview of Act One, Inc. or our instructors. If the MPAA were rating our seminars, they'd probably call them PG - and so do we.
Cost: Early bird reservation by November 15, 2009
