Redondo Poets Reading FAQ

If you do not find the answer to your question below, submit your question and we will send you the information and possibly add it to this FAQ.

How does the open mic reading work? Is there a limit on how many poems one can read?

Open mic readers may read 2 poems or for 4 minutes, whichever comes first. We usually go through half of the signup sheet before the feature, and the rest after the feature. The signup sheet remains open during the entire reading. If time permits after everyone on the open reading list has read once, we sometimes have a "lightning round" where those who want to may read one additional poem.

Are there restrictions on content?

No. However, when children below high school age are present, we urge readers to monitor content and language.

Do I have to read my own work?

No. You may read any poetry that moves you to want to share it.

May I read prose pieces?

Strictly speaking, no. But prose poems are fine.

How long is the feature?

20-25 minutes.

How do I get to Coffee Cartel?
