WRITE A LETTER TO
FIGHT POVERTY & HUNGER
The Social Justice
Group of FUMC invites
members of our church family to participate in the 2010 Bread for the World
Offering of Letters following services on March 21, 2010.
Every year, Bread for the World invites churches across the country to take up
an Offering of Letters to Congress on an issue that is important to
hungry people. This year, a series of tax cuts enacted in recent years will
expire. Bread for the World
is asking Congress to protect and strengthen key tax credits that help
low-income workers and their families meet their living expenses.
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable tax credit geared
primarily toward families with children.
The Child Tax Credit (CTC) also helps lower-income families.
Bread for the World is a nation wide Christian citizen’s movement that today
involves about 2,500 Churches. The
organization works in a bipartisan way advocating for the poor and hungry in the
halls of Congress. You may visit www.bread.org to learn more about Bread for the
World and the Offering of Letters.
