Social Justice Small Group
The Social Justice Small Group at First United Methodist Church of Farmington meets once a month, usually on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 pm, at the church. Our next meeting is Wednesday, March 10 at 7pm at the church. Anyone who is interested is welcome to join us. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact the committee at ffsocial.justice@gmail.com.
We
believe the mission of our Church calls us all to Ministry; the mission is not
only local, but global and is for everyone.

Our
goal as a Small Group is to help our church membership know more about
what our United Methodism’s “Book of Discipline” expects from us in the area of
Social Principles. Join us – you’ll
find there are many options for social involvement, depending on your
motivation:

social service
social education
social witness
social action
Social
involvement is identifying the need & then doing something about it – it is
Christian love in action.
“Jesus
got into trouble for attempting to transform society rather than conform to it,
but if we name the Name, and if we are followers of The Way, we are called to
engage in the redemption of the social order.
We are to help bring healing & wholeness to a broken world”.
George Outen, former general secretary of General Board of Church &
Society.
