OPERATION

ZEROING:

NOTE:  The unit is factory set before shipping.

  1. Get in an enclosed area out of the wind.

  2. Turn on unit and let settle for about 30 seconds.

  3. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise for increased beeps.

  4. Set vario where it beeps 2 or 3 times per second at rest.

  5. Beeps should increase when the unit is slowly raised and decrease when it is slowly lowered.

  6. The unit can also be tested by placing it in a zip lock bag and sealing it.  Squeeze on the bag for sink and release for lift.

  7. This type of setting helps the pilot know when to slow down on straight glides by indicating buoyant air and also serves as a reminder to turn it off after landing.

  8. This zero setting should not change for at least the first one hundred hours of operation.  A slight readjustment may be necessary at that time.

BATTERIES:

  1. To remove the batteries insert a small object at point A and gently pry up one battery at a time.

  2. When installing batteries the flat or + side should go to the bottom of the enclosure. The + symbol is stamped on the batteries.

  3. Do not over tighten screws when reinstalling cover.

  4. Batteries should be replaced when the unit doesn't zero properly on power up.
