Photo taken of the Honolulu Marathon Clinic on Diamond Head Road just outbound of Kapiolani Park in Waikiki. The Clinic training runs usually follow along the same route as the Honolulu Marathon. This helps the runners be more familiar with the scenery along the route and makes the actual marathon seem shorter
The Diamond Head Lighthouse is the first waterstop for the Sunday morning training runs. Water breaks are emphasized as being critical to a successful first marathon. Part of the training consists of learning to stop and drink at each water station.
Pete and Carlye after a training run. This father and daughter team trained with the Honolulu Marathon Clinic and successfully finished the 2000 Honolulu Marathon together.
The gang at the Kalanianiole Highway Church water stop. This training run was the inbound leg of a Bus Run. The bus dropped the Clinic members at the Hawaii Kai boat harbor, where groups could choose a 9, 11 or 13 mile route back to Kapiolani Park.
The Honolulu Marathon Clinic welcomes visitors Ritsu and Junko from Saitama, Japan. They both had completed the marathon previously (1998 finisher's shirts) and had returned to Hawaii for a vacation and for a run with the Clinic.
This photo was taken at the Yum Yum Tree breakfast after the post Thanksgiving tapering run. This short Sunday run begins the premarathon tapering process and also gives the group a chance to see what the downtown portion of the race will look like.

Come join us for a run in paradise.
