SAT Workshop 2012

A third section was opened for the large number of students this year. Late registrations are being accepted for Section 3, 5 PM - 8 PM.

Announcement

The St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES offers the Spring 2012 SAT Workshop to interested high-school juniors. Classes will be held at the St. Lawrence Valley Educational Services Center, Canton, on eight Sundays starting February 26th.  To participate in the workshop, students in Canton, Clifton-Fine, Colton-Pierrepont, Gouverneur, Hermon-DeKalb, Heuvelton, Madrid-Waddington and Morristown districts must register with their guidance counselors. Home school students and students from other districts should mail the registration form and fee directly to Meg Clemens. Registration forms, class information and schedules are available at http://home.roadrunner.com/~mclemens/ and at the High School Guidance Offices.

What

St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES Spring 2012 SAT Workshop -- 24 hours of in class preparation for the Critical Reading, Math and Writing sections of the SAT. Classes are on Sundays to minimize conflicts with extra-curricular activities.

Students

Any Juniors who plan to take the May or June SAT

Cost

Participating Districts: Canton, Clifton-Fine, Colton-Pierrepont, Gouverneur, Hermon-DeKalb, Heuvelton, Madrid-Waddington and Morristown
Students at these districts type the registration form, print and sign it and submit it to your Guidance Office.  Your school sets the student cost.

Students at other districts or home-school students may mail the registration form and check for $135 (payable to Sally Vrooman) directly to Meg Clemens, Canton Central School, 99 State Street, Canton, NY 13617

Teachers

Meg Clemens will teach the Math (M) classes Sally Vrooman will teach the Critical Reading and Writing (RW) classes

When

Eight Sundays: February 26 (RW); March 4 (M), 11 (RW), 18 (M), 25 (M); April 1 (RW); April 22 (M) and April 29 (RW). There will be no class on April 8. April 15 is reserved as a make-up for a snow day, if necessary.

 

Feb-Mar Apr-May

Time

11 AM - 2 PM OR 2 - 5 PM OR 5 - 8 PM
3 hours long classes to simulate an actual SAT, although the SAT is now 3 hours and 45 minutes long.

Materials

A calculator is required for math classes, a graphing calculator is preferred.

SATbook Bring $30 cash for workshop materials (includes sales tax.) SLU Bookstore will be selling the materials at the first class (30 minutes prior.) If you can't make the first class, arrange for a classmate to buy your materials or purchase them at the main counter of the SLU Bookstore before the next class (identify yourself as a SAT Workshop participant.)
