I use a
Cadillac of the stringing
industry. A Stringway Machine. Stringway Machines are made
in
Holland and imported to the United States through Alpha Machines in
Austin TX.
My Stringway machine is a constant
pull machine. It pulls the
string to the proper tension, then continues to pull as the string
stretches. If you have your racquet strung
on a “lock-out”
machine(such as a Prince Neos), it pulls the string until the machine’s
mechanism realizes it
has
reached the appropriate tension, then stops. As the string
continues to stretch, it does not compensate. This results in a
string job which is tensioned 5-15% less than a constant pull machine. A racquet strung on a constant pull machine will feel
"right" to you sooner, with little or no break in period.
If you are playing with a Prince Speedport or O3 racquet, beware of
people who string with lock-out machines. The lack of true
grommets will cause the "speedport" strings to be at a lower tension
than the rest of the racquet unless specific precautions are
taken.
