Pan swap by removing K
Pulling the K with the suspension is easier and much faster than pulling the engine. At least for my car. I heard about this method somewhere and decided to give it a whirl.
Big blocks are heavy! 2"x2"x6' angle iron 1/8" thick has a bit more
deflection than I would care for supporting the motor. I am only hanging it to
get the K out and in, otherwise the motor is also supported from the bottom -
and no sudden loading or unloading. I would step up one size on thickness and I
am a little nervous about the all-thread. I did some calculations, the safety
margin on the all-thread is not high enough for my comfort. Not for the faint of
heart, don't do this at home. To get an idea of how tweaked the pan is, the
drain plug is supposed to be parallel to the back of the pan and perpendicular
to the bottom.
