| About the Ultima Theme |
| Welcome to the culmination of many months of work: The Ultima Theme for Windows 95. I have worked on this Theme for countless hours and I hope you enjoy it. I do. I wanted something more interesting than what anyone else had tried when I first started. I'm sure my work has inspired others out there to make their themes the best they can be. In my Ultima Theme there's not just one background, one sound and one mouse cursor. There are over 200 files in all! (That includes the 43 icons in the Ultima.DLL file.) There are 6 Theme files that I provide, but there are a lot more files that are included in the package that aren't used by any of the .THEME files. These files are there so that you have the choice of using something different than what I thought of. So please, don't live with the status quo, Download my theme, install it, look at the pre-built themes to get ideas and then go and configure your computer to look the way you want it. But most of all, be sure to have fun doing it! Don't forget this Theme has 54 sound files, 43 Desktop Icons and dozens of mouse pointers for you to play with! All of this AND there are Shut-Down screens and animated Startup screens. Your desktop will never be boring again! |

| Here's an overview of each of the Desktop Themes inside the Ultima Theme 2.3.
I change only the background, sounds, mouse pointers, and desktop icons when you choose a Theme. I decided that you probably already have a color and font scheme that you worked hard on, or have one that you prefer. BUT, if you want, place this file into your Plus! directory. IMPORTANT! This file is intended only to change the colors. Be sure only the Colors checkbox is marked! If you select anything else using this color file, they will be set to null. That is, no wallpaper, no sound events, no fancy icons, no screen-saver, etc. will be setup. To fix this, simply select a different Theme. Oh, by the way, this color scheme is designed for 65K colors or more. Results in 256 colors may vary. Update! Several people have requested this file, so here it is. The Original Guardian Background Picture [~82 K] with the pentagram in the background! Some people don't mind (and would prefer to see) the pentagram in the Guardian background picture. I've provided both the JPG and another Theme file to take advantage of it. This Theme file is the same as the Ultima 3.Theme file, except it uses the new background. Be sure to read the Readme.Txt file included! Now lets see what the Theme looks like! |

The background is from the Introduction of Ultima 8. It's a picture of the Island you're stuck on. The My Computer Icon is a Dragon. The Network Neighborhood Icon is The Avatar and the Shadowlords. The Recycle Bin is the Guardian who shouts out "Damn, You Avatar!." (I think it's funny) Mouse Pointers include Arcadion the Demon Sword as the default pointer. The Busy pointer is an animated morph from the sword to the face of Arcadion. |

The background is from the Introduction of Ultima 7 Part 2. It's a picture of Lord British's Castle, during a storm. The My Computer Icon is The Earth Serpent from Serpent Isle. The Network Neighborhood Icon is the Avatar. The Recycle Bin is a fancy Forge from Serpent Isle. Mouse Pointers include the FireDoom Staff as the default pointer. The Busy pointer is an animated Staff. |

The background is from the Introduction of Ultima 8. It's a picture of the Guardian holding the Avatar. (There used to be a Pentagram in the background, but I edited it out.) The My Computer Icon is a Wisp that I made. The Network Neighborhood Icon is a Telescope. The Recycle Bin is the Spirit Forge from Ultima 7. Mouse Pointers include the 3D-looking mouse pointer as the default pointer. The Busy pointer is an animated machine from Ultima 7. |

The background is from the Introduction of Ultima 7 Part 2--Serpent Isle. It's a picture of a Hall from Lord British's Castle. The My Computer Icon is Petra the Automaton from Serpent Isle. The Network Neighborhood Icon a Telescope (I liked it). The Recycle Bin is the Guardian's Head again, this time his mouth is open wider and he shouts, "Go Away!." Mouse Pointers include the Demon Sword Arcadion as the default pointer. The Busy pointer is an animated Avatar running diagonally down to the left from Ultima 8. (He never seems to get tired of running, though.) |

The background is from the endgame sequence of Serpent Isle. It's a picture of the Avatar in the Void after helping the Earth Serpent. The My Computer Icon is a serpent statue from Serpent Isle. The Network Neighborhood Icon is a statue of an Ankh. The Recycle Bin is a fancy Ice and Fire serpent statue. Ice for empty, Fire for full. Mouse Pointers include an animated FireDoom Staff as the default pointer. (I like this one because then I can tell instantly when Windows has locked up on me.) The Busy pointer is an animated rotating Ankh. |

I threw together this background from images from Serpent Isle. The left serpent is the Chaos Serpent, the right one is the Order Serpent and the Center one is the Great Earth Serpent. The My Computer Icon is Lord British from Serpent Isle. The Network Neighborhood Icon is the Gypsy wagon from Ultima 6. The Recycle Bin is a standard Forge from Ultima 7. Mouse Pointers include the FireDoom Staff as the default pointer. The Busy pointer is an animated Staff. |

There is no Theme file tied to this image. I figure you can use it if you like. This is a background that I threw into the Ultima Theme because it is nice looking. It's a picture from the startup sequence of Savage Empire. Finally, in 800x600, the image looks great in Windows! I like the dinosaurs in the mist and the sunset is gorgeous. |

There is no Theme file tied to this image. Again, you can use it if you like. It too is a picture from the startup sequence of Savage Empire. Again, I was able to clean it up to look good in Windows. Nice waterfall over a small village with a pool of water reflecting everything. Nice work, Origin! |
