Southwest Dallas County, Texas Branch of AAUW
AAUW was formerly known as the American Association of University Women

AAUW is a national organization that works to promote education and equity for women and girls.
Membership in AAUW is open to anyone with at least a 2-year college degree. There is also a student membership category for those currently enrolled.

The Southwest Dallas County (SWDC) branch holds a general meeting each month, September through May, with either a speaker or a social event. We will hold most meetings on the 3rd Thursday of the month, starting at 6:30pm for dinner. Special events for November (hosting North Texas Interbranch)and February (Expanding Your Horizons) will be on Saturday morning, and for April we plan a very special Sunday evening event.
We organize and sponsor an Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) career day program for girls of grades 6,7,and 8 that is held on the last Saturday of February or the first Saturday of March at Cedar Valley College. See www.EYH.aauw-swdc.org
In addition we have special interest activity groups such as bridge and gourmet.

The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30; however, if you join after March 1, your dues cover the remaining months of this membership year and all of the next membership year.
Dues for the year July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 are $69; this includes national AAUW ($49), Texas AAUW ($10), and our branch ($10). [$40 of the national AAUW dues is deductible from your federal tax as a charity contribution.]
Student dues are $28 (=$17 national, $1 Texas, and $10 branch),and life member dues are $20 ($10 state and $10 branch).
You can renew your membership (including state and branch) via the national AAUW website at www.AAUW.org. Select Member Center from the menu at top, then login with your Member ID in order to access the Member Services Database.

We do not usually hold a monthly meeting or publish a newsletter in June, July, and August.
