| Workhorse Chassis - Cracked Brake Rotors |
|
The
photos below document brake rotor cracking on my 2004 National Sea Breeze
LX Motor Home, which is on a Workhorse W-22 Chassis. There have been two
instances of major cracking. The first was in May 2007. The second was
in March 2008. |

This is the right rear rotor showing the crack that was discovered in May 2007. Both rear rotors were replaced at that time. Workhorse provided the parts under warranty but I paid the labor charges. There are numerous small cracks visible in this photo. At the time similar small cracks were seen in both front rotors. I was advised by the Service Manager and by the brake mechanic at the Workhorse Service Center that both front rotors should also be replaced because the cracks would spread. The Workhorse Regional Manager disagreed, claiming that the small cracks are considered normal and that the front rotors did not have to be replaced. Based on his statement they were not. |

Ten months and 6,300 miles later both front rotors were found to have the severe cracks that look identical to the one discovered in 2007. This is a photo of the left front brake rotor. The long crack goes all the way through the disc.

Photo of right front brake rotor with an almost identical crack. Workhorse was contacted but refused to provide any further assistance. The front rotors and pad sets were replaced at my expense.
