Wilson Trucker Antenna Mount |
|
After switching to Verizon Broadband to provide Internet connectivity in our motorhome I found that adding an external Wilson Trucker antenna sigificantly improved performance. For convenience I elected to mount the antenna on my crank-up batwing antenna mast as shown in the following photos. |

The Wilson was purchased with a standard truck mount. That is bolted to a length of 1" square aluminuim extrusion, which is bolted the standard Wineguard batwing antenna mast using a piece of aluminum "Z" extrusion. A standard 90 degree angle extrusion could be used instead of the "Z".

The antenna bracket should be mounted a couple of inches below the top of the mast to allow room for the mast members to pivot in the top cap when the batwing is being raised or lowered. It should be oriented so that there is no mechanical interference and so that the radial reflector arms do not hit the roof when lowered. The coax cable comes in through a 1/2" hole drilled in the top of the fiberglass front cap. The hole is covered with a chrome clam shell vent from West Marine and sealed with butyl rubber sealant.
