Hey! All your fish ARE NOT illegal after all!
The government was trying to outlaw ALL NON-NATIVE ANIMALS with HR669 but apparently the public outcry was huge and our representatives decided to kill the legislation.
The Belle Isle Aquarium in Detroit is CLOSED !! The Detroit Zoo has closed the Belle Isle Aquarium in Detroit, Michigan after 101 years of service to the world. It is one of the oldest aquariums in the country and has an incredibly rich history in the aquarium hobby. However, Go to the website of the Friends of Belle Isle Aquarium (FOBIA) and help with the fight to save it. They have raised a great deal of money and even have some companies sponsoring a move to privately fund the aquarium's operations. A New Public Aquarium? Maybe. A group has formed to try to bring a new public aquarium to Cleveland. They can be contacted at: http://www.clevelandaquarium.org/ info@clevelandaquarium.org, P.O. Box 5368, Willowick, Ohio 44095-5368, 216-861-8619 Other groups of interest: (here until I sort out a good way to organize this) Project Golden Frog Trying to save a special frog from deforestation, over collection, & the Chytrid fungus in Panama. Kathy Krynak from the Cleveland Zoo is very involved with this; raising them at the zoo. Las Gralarias Foundation An organization building up a reserve of land in Ecuador. Check out the birds and frogs on the website. Involved in this group is Clevelander Tim & Kathy Krynak. The Brooklyn Shelter A group trying to get a humane animal shelter built in Brooklyn (Cleveland Suburb). NOTE: Please ask your local fish club to add a link to my site to their website if they don't have one. I've got links to their website here! AND: Support your local Public Aquarium, Independent Fish Store, and Local Aquarium Club, they're hard things to get back once they're gone!
EMAIL ADDRESS:
Please don't print it anywhere electronically. That's what gets us all spammed. In case you haven't noticed, all the email addresses in this website are hidden from the spammers' automatic collection programs. You can't actually see the address until you mouse over it or click it to send. This is a nice java-script trick for websites that I found somewhere. If you want to know how to do this on your website, just ask me. I've got a lot of events on the calendar Please, please advise me if any dates or info are wrong! I've got a place in the 'profile pages' for each club for contact people and special events so send me those bits of info if you have them. It should be more useful to you and it is easier for me to keep updated. Ken | Please send comments, corrections, and constructive criticisms to the email link below. And by all means send me the following: your club's: email address, website address, meeting night, show & auction dates (proposed or confirmed, and I would like to know why you pick that date; 1st Sunday after 2nd Monday, etc. or closest to Washington's Birthday or whatever!) and any special events to be advertised, etc. Thanks, Ken | | | visits to this site : | | | | |
