Location, Process & Fees |
| The Ohio Chow Rescue Volunteers on this site are located
in various areas of the state. The location of the foster home will
be noted in the chows for adoption link. Appointments to view adoptable
chows are usually following an adoption application and phone interview.
An email link will be provided in the chows for adoption link. Adoption
communications about adoption application, adoption fees & adoption
procedures will between the chow custodian and the adoptee. Adoption
fees will vary between each rescue volunteer. The adoption fees are
to help offset the medical fees, food, and housing. Adoption fees,
fund raisers and donations solely fund rescue work. |
Adoption Procedure |
For adoptions to be successful, the first
part of the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application
followed by a phone interview. After the application process & phone
interview there will be a home visit by a chow rescue volunteer.
The screening process will give us an opportunity to give you a
dog that will fit well into your household. If you already have
a dog, we recommend that you adopt a chow of the opposite sex. This
will ensure the best long-term compatibility. Arrangements can be
made to bring the chow to an interview or home visit to see if it
is compatible with the rescued dog. All dogs are intended to live
as members of your family. We prefer that adopters have fenced yards
but some rescue volunteers may make acceptation for responsible
owners who understand that a dog can never be allowed to run off
leash in an unfenced in area. If you choose to adopt the dog, there
will be an adoption contract to sign & an adoption fee. There will
be a trial time (usually two weeks or longer depending on rescue
group), if the adoption during that time doesn't work out, your
fee will be returned. If, at any time, you can't keep your adopted
Chow Chow, we require that you bring it back to the rescue that
you adopted the dog from. |
