Twoey was brought in the pound 2 times. The first time by someone that picked him up as a stray & thought she would keep him but he did not do well with her cats. So she brought him to the pound. He was very calm at the pound and never developed kennel stress. He seemed to get along with other dogs and people of all ages.
Someone very well known in our community adopted him. The dog warden was very happy because she thought he had a good home. Several months later the owner decided he didn't want him so he had someone in his family to dump him off at the pound. It was very upsetting to see the condition he was in. It took me 2 ½ hours to remove the mats & briers from his coat. It's not the best grooming job, but at least I didn't have to have him shaved down. Also his collar was on so tight that is caused a sore on his neck.
He was such a nice dog that the dog warden wanted to do everything possible for a chance to have a good life and didn't want to have to put him down. At the time there were no foster homes available. I hated the thought of him going to someone unaltered do to the pet over-population problem so I took him to the vet and had him neutered. Also the dog warden checked with the previous owners vet to get his vaccination records. We also learned that he was never vaccinated. So I also got him up to date on his vaccines. The previous owner should be ashamed of himself for the lack of care for this family companion.
Luckily a spot opened up at Spelko-Pal Chow Rescue. The pound was overfilling with all the homeless dogs, so Dr Covy kept Twoey at his kennel until I could transport him up to Strongsville for a third chance to have a good life. Update: Good news for Twoey, he found a home! |
