NDCL
Mission Statement

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin is a Catholic,
co-educational college preparatory school.

Sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame who founded Notre Dame Academy and heir to the Marianist spirit of Cathedral Latin School, NDCL is grounded in the shared values of two strong educational traditions: faith formation, academic excellence, school as community, and commitment to service.

Like Mary who gave Christ to the world, NDCL prepares leaders who transform the world by doing the truth in love.

Three juniors earn National Merit recognition for top PSAT performance
Juniors Larry Donovan, Ryan O'Neill, and Erin Vanek have been notified by the National Merit Scholarship Program that they are among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.5 million students who took last fall's Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT).

Their outstanding performance on the PSAT qualifies Larry, Ryan, and Erin for consideration as National Merit commended students or semi-finalists. Those prestigious designations will not be announced until the fall. Congratulations, Larry, Ryan, and Erin!

Next year’s calendar now online
Students and parents can download the 2010-2011 Academic Calendar, which designates opening and closing days, parent-teacher conferences, vacations, free days, and other important dates.

A key change in next year's calendar is the administration of first-semester examinations in the week before Christmas. A task force of teachers, counselors, and administrators recommended this change after considering various options and consulting with the entire faculty.

"This arrangement will focus teaching and learning in ways that should boost student performance," explained Principal Mr. Joseph A. Waler.

"And by scheduling exams before Christmas, NDCL will be following an academic calendar that more closely matches the calendars of the colleges and universities to which our students will be headed when they graduate," Mr. Waler added. "It's another step in our ongoing effort to provide our students with the best preparation for a lifetime of learning and success."

A Mother’s Day Prayer

Good and loving God, we give you thanks and praise for mothers young and old.

We pray for young mothers, who give life, count toes, and tend to their children's every need;
May they be blessed with patience and tenderness to care for their families and themselves with great joy.

We pray for our own mothers who have lovingly nurtured and cared for us throughout our lives;
May they continue to guide in strong and gentle ways.

We remember mothers who are separated from their children because of war, poverty, illness, or family conflict;
May they feel the loving embrace of our God, who wipes every tear away.

We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion.

We remember mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and continue to nourish us with their love.

In faith, we entrust all of these women to Mary, the Mother of God, and ask her to hold them close to her Son, Jesus, now and forever. Amen.
