Update 7/20/2011
The Osprey laid their eggs this year, but the nest was invaded by a predator and this year no youn Osprey were raised. We now have installed a predator guard on the tree to prevent this from happening again.
Update 3/7/2011
The female Osprey was seen on the nest this morning. Activity around the nest should soon start
Update 4/18/2010
The baby owl has taken flight. He now resides in a nearby pine tree, out of view of the camera, during the day. The parents continue to feed it at night. Early morning we have seen one of the parents sitting in the pine tree with the baby owl.
Update 4/7/2010
We are unable to get a camera on the new Osprey nest. Distance from power source is to great.
Note: The baby owl can best be observed when it is most active in the afternoon between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM eastern standard time.
3/7/2010
We have just constructed another platform for the Osprey, since their nest has been taken over by the Owls. If you look closely directly over the nest in a tall pine you can see the new nest and Ospreys. The Ospreys have already take it over and started a new nest. Hopefully we can get another camera on it. Will keep posting our progress..
2/23/2009
For those of you just joining us, we have baby owls. The mother hides them most of the time but every now and then you might see a baby stick its head out.
Update 1/28/10
I am sorry to inform Osprey watchers that our Osprey Nest has been invaded by Owls. Guess we will get an opportunity to watch Owls raise their young this season.
Update 7/9/09
One of the baby Ospreys took flight today. The other will do so soon. They will hang around the nest for a few weeks while their parents teach them to hunt fish for themselves. Its been a good nesting season.
Update 5/26/09
The eggs have hatched and we have three new baby Ospreys to watch. Don't be surprised if one of the three don't survive. We have never had all three to make it.
Update 4/15/09
The female Osprey laid her eggs last week and both the female and male are taking turns sitting on them. The eggs should hatch in about 30 days.
Update 3/23/09
Welcome back to our Ospreynest site. We are sorry the web address has changed but this was due to some changes with our web server Timewarner or Roadrunner.
The Ospreys have return to the nest and already started sprucing up the nest. Hopefully we will have a successful nesting season like we had last year. Will try and update more often this nesting season.
Update 8/29/08
Update: Sorry folks but the lighting has struck our camera again. The young Ospreys and their parents have left the nest for this season to migrate south for the winter. Hope everybody enjoyed watching a successful osprey nesting season. Hope to have the camera repaired in time for the next nesting season
Update 7/3/08
The smaller baby Osprey is doing fine. It should also be able to fly soon. The male Osprey is still bringing fish to the nest and the female is still feeding both in the nest. Now the female is often out with the flying younger Osprey, teaching it to fish for itself.
This morning at day break the whole Osprey family (father, mother, baby) was sitting in the tree out of camera's view. Only one of the younger Ospreys was in the nest. This has been a successful nesting season for this pair of Osprey. At one time, when the chicks were younger, we were worried about the whole family because the male got some plastic bag hung around it's feet and we were afraid it was going to affect his catching fish for the female and the two baby Ospreys. Lucky, the plastic bag came off it's feet and he was able to feed the family.
Update 7/2/08
One of the young Osprey took it's first flight this morning about 6:30 a. m. It was right comical watching the crash landing into the nest when it returned. The landings improved after each of it's short flights around the neighborhood. The smaller Osprey should test it's wings shortly.
Update 6/5/08
By now everybody must be aware that we have two baby Osprey. One of the chicks is bigger than the other but we feel sure that both will survive. Have fun watching them.
Update 4/15/08
Update 3/05/08
Welcome back to the Osprey Nest Viewing for the 2008 nesting season. The Osprey arrived on the nest Thursday, February 28th. This year we hope to observe the Ospreys raising their young ones until next fall when they return south for the winter. Thanks to the donations from several viewers, who have watched the Osprey over the years, we were able to purchase an additional camera. If one of the cameras happens to go down, we will be back on line shortly with the other one.
