Parent/Leader Meeting Minutes for January 22, 2008


Attendees: Tom Kale, Paul Waldrop, Pam Harrison, Kathy Rapport.

Recharter
- Re-registering 34 scouts and 16 adults for 2008 for a total of $880. Amount is down from year's past due to large number of 5th grade Webelos (17) that are moving on to Boy Scouts.

Pine Wood Derby
-Location is the First Christian Church in Plano at 813 15th St. on Sat Feb 2. Look for the race flags.
-Tiger scouts can start checking in at 8:15am and all other ranks can check in at any time but it has to be no later than 15 minutes before their race. Once a car is checked in, it CANNOT be taken back to add anything more to it. Be sure it is ready when you hand it in.

Each rank races on the hour:
-Tigers at 9am
-Wolfs at 10am
-Bears at 11am
-Webelos 1 at noon
-Webelos 2 (Den 8) at 1pm
-Webelos 2 (Dens 10 & 11) at 2pm
-Grand Champion Race (1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners from each rank)

Sibling races will be fit in where there is time. First race may be around 9:30am since there are only 7 Tigers. Second race will be around 11:30am.

There will be a food court at the PWD with food for sale. Please bring individually wrapped baked good items that can be sold. (IE.... a couple cookies bagged together, brownie squares, rice krispie treats, cupcakes....)

We still could use some help in the Race Support area as well as the Food Court. Please email Pam Harrison at tul.time@tx.rr.com so you can get on the list. Remember every den has a time slot that needs to be filled in order to pull off this fun event.

T-shirts
-Pack 235 t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Pine Wood Derby. Cost is $10. Cheryl Waldrop will be selling them at the table where she is handing out Scouting for Food bags and collecting Day Camp forms.


Blue & Gold Banquet
- Location- First Christian Church of Plano at 813 15th St on Sat Feb 23 at 7pm. Mark Benton to send out details.
-Paul Waldrop is in charge of the Slide Show this year and has requested pictures to him by Feb 16th.
-AWARDS for Blue and Gold Banquet are due to Sarie Horne by Feb 9th. Be sure to include all boys that have earned their rank advancements. Email her at sarieh@tx.rr.com

Summer Day Camp
- Forms are due to Cheryl Waldrop by Feb 13.
-If your son has earned a credit due to popcorn sales, contact Cheryl for amount and your check for camp will be made out to Pack 235.
-All other campers need to have their checks made out to Circle Ten Council
-If you wish to visit the camp to eat lunch with your child, and you are not already registered with the pack as a leader, you will need to fill out and adult leader form NOW and pay the $10 fee to get registered. This is so they can run a background check before camp.
-Forms can be turned in to Cheryl at the Pine Wood Derby.

Scouting for Food
-Cheryl will hand out bags and maps at the Pine Wood Derby.
-Food collection is set for Sat Feb 16 during the morning. Food collected can be dropped at the Waldrop home (1633 Stockton) OR can be taken to any Tom Thumb where they will put it on the truck to take to the Plano Food Pantry.
-Leaders, please count the number of items before dropping off at either location and email that back to Cheryl. c.nored@verizon.net

Finances
- Current balance is $4315.01. This does include money from popcorn sales, which was $2990.
