Roundtable Minutes for March 2, 2006

1) Scouting for Food brought in over 85,000 items for the Plano Food Bank. This exceeds last year’s donations of 68,000 items by quite a bit. Good job.

2) The National Scouting Museum is holding a series of events called Cubstruction, in which they boys can do various projects. Information can be found at the great plains website cubstructionflyer737.jpg or at the Scouting Museum site www.bsamuseum.org.

3) Great Plains district has changed the re-chartering requirements for all packs within the district. All re-chartering will take place in January, of every year. This is to simplify chartering for all Packs. District will be setting up re-chartering workshops to be conducted during the months of November and December. More details, as they are made available.

4) If anyone has decided to make donations to Friends of Scouting, please fill out the paperwork and send it in. Any amount can help. District receives approximately 27% of their budget from this, and appreciate anything you can do.

5) Scout show information was passed out to all coordinators tonite. More information on the Scout Show will follow.

6) All Webelos Den Leaders are encouraged to attend next month’s roundtable. Someone will be talking on how a Den can earn their Forestry badge as a group, instead of having to worry about it individually. Please check the Pack calendar for time and location.

7) The Big Day of Training will be held at Messiah Lutheran (corner of Plano Pkwy and Custer) on March 25th. Any leaders/adult volunteers that wish to attend are encouraged to sign up. Pre-registration can be accomplished online at the Great Plains Website. www.greatplainsbsa.org All of our boys deserve trained leadership.

8) Daycamp registration will be turned in on March 18th, from 9 to 12. Current fee is $50, but will change to $75 after noon on the 18th. Contact your den leader, or Stacey Donaldson to sign your boy up. Please note that we need to have 1 adult volunteer per 5 boys and that the adults need to be trained and have the adult volunteer paperwork filled out ASAP. Contact myself, or Pam Harrison, to get the Adult volunteer forms.

9) Mom and Me and Dad and Lad will be held on April 28 – 30 at Camp James Ray, 71 Camp James Ray Road, in Pottsboro, TX. Cost is $90 for adult and child, and all meals are provided. Attendance is limited to the first 250 people.

10) Webelos Summer camp will be held the following dates: July 2-5, 5-8, 9-12, and 12-15. Everyone is encouraged to register as a Pack, instead of individually. This is due by July 1. Any boy that has graduated into the 4th grade, or 5th grade, are invited to attend.

Well, as you can see, lots going on at the Roundtable. I really would like to encourage all leaders, parents, or interested people to attend the meetings. They are a lot of fun, and very informative. As always, take care, and see you on the 18th for the Pack Meeting/Rain Gutter Regatta. More info on it can be found on the Pack 235 website (http://home.roadrunner.com/~pack235/). Take care until then
Paul W.
