CUB SCOUT ROUNDTABLE MINUTES
JULY 6, 2006

This month’s theme is Red, White and Baloo. So just about everything that was discussed tonight had to deal with red, white, blue, flags, respect and even “You’re A Grand Ole Flag.”

• One of the key things that were discussed at tonight’s meeting was the Plano Balloon Fest on September 22-24. The balloon fest representivies have asked if our District would like to take part in the balloon fest this year and years to come. They talked about having a Pinewood Derby Race there for the Cub Scouts to bring their cars out to race against other Packs in the District. But they are not sure if this could be done. But they did set up a committee chairperson to help coordinate some kind of event to be held at the balloon fest. I have signed up to help be on the committee, but if you would like to help out also, let me know and I will send you the committee chairperson’s email to you. This is a great chance to get the word out for our pack and hope to get more boys to join.

• Join Scout Night Training will be held on Aug. 10th.

• District has set the date for “Join Scout Night” to be on August 31. But it is up to each Pack to set and make their own arrangements.

• Nat’l Scouting Museum is having some great activities this month that follow along with the Red, White, and Baloo theme. They are having a coloring contest. You can pick up the coloring page at the museum, have the boys color it. Then turn them back in by the July 29 at noon deadline. They will announce the winners later that day. You can go to their web site at http://www.bsamuseum.org/index.html for more info and many other activities going on there through the month of July.

• Plano’s July 4th parade only had 3 packs show up. District would like to see a bigger turnout next year.

• Fall Training Opportunities. District is looking for experienced people to help out with Fall Training this year. If you are interested, please contact Brant Lippincott. He can be found at www.greatplainsbsa.org.

• Tigermainia will be help on November 3rd. They are looking for volunteers here also.

• Also, this will be the first year that Tigers will get t-shirts. They are also offering any adult volunteer t-shirts at a cost of $5.00. You must contact Genny White at genny@whitwiz.org by October’s Roundtable to sign up.

• The theme for Tigermainia will be “Tigers Before Time” going with the dinosaur and tigers theme.

• There will also be a bounce house there this year.

• They also wanted to stress that the pack follow the “Guide To Safe Scouting” during any and all of your planning of events for the packs and dens. This booklet can be found at the Scout Shop.

I think that’s about all the major topics that were discussed. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thanks
Susie Luttrell
