The Circle Ten Council, BSA has been contacted by various agencies to
activate our emergency preparedness action plan in response to Katrina.
The Dallas area now has thousands of refugees in shelters and homes who
need our help.
This plan was established by a committee of volunteers and government
officials at the national and local level, in a partnership with the
Department of Homeland Security and The Boy Scouts of America after the
9/11 tragedy. The Council is having an emergency meeting with other agency
officials to make plans to activate our local packs, troops and crews at
this time. We know right now that we will ask at least 100 units to
mobilize for various local service projects.
Please reference the Circle Ten Council website at www.circle10.org for up
to date information on how your unit can help. If you have an immediate
concern, please run them through your unit leader and have him/her contact
me directly.
