For 2010 The following changes were agreed upon:
1. Six schools at a time will be called down to the field to compete in the field events.
This will reduce the number of athletes waiting to compete in each field event.
If an athlete is called to a running event, they will need to leave the field event
and return after their running event is completed.
2. Long jump only: Athletes will be in line by school. Each athlete from the
school will do a warm-up rotation, then their jumps, rotating with teammates after
each jump. Again, if an athlete leaves for a running event, it’s up to them to return
to the long jump to finish their jumps.
3. Softball Throw: Each athlete will get one practice throw and two measured throws.
The throws will be consecutive.
4. The final heats of the 100 and 200 will include the eight best times,
but only six will place. Make sure your athletes know that by winning their
heat, it doesn’t necessarily qualify them for the final if the time is not one
of the eight fastest times.
Clarifications:
1. Two boys and two girls from each school may compete in all events
with the exception of the 800 and relays. 800: one boy and one girl; 4x100
relay: 4 boys form a team, 4 girls form a team; shuttle relay: 5 boys and 5
girls form one team.
2. Softball size: 12 inch size, cork center synthetic
3. Soccer Ball size: 5
4. Relay Baton: 11 ½ inches long, 1 ½ inches in diameter, aluminum
General Rules:
1. The 100 and 200 meter running events will include prelims and final heats;
all other running and field events will be finals only. Athletes with the top eight times will qualify for finals.
2. All coaches, athletes and parents must stay in their designated seating area during competition. There will be no on field coaching allowed during competition. One warning will be given and then points will be deducted.
3. Each school may have a maximum 15 girl and 15 boy roster; students can be from the fourth through sixth grades.
4. A student may participate in a maximum of three events: one running event, one relay, and one field event.
5. The 500 Shuttle Relay must have an equal number of boys and girls (5 and 5)
6. NO student will be allowed to use specialty shoes that have cleats or spikes, regardless if the spikes can be removed. Specialty shoes include any type of shoe with cleats or spikes. When runners take their lanes, all shoes will be inspected. If a student is wearing specialty shoes he/she will be disqualified.
7. Participants may not wear t-shirts that contain taunting language or wording.
8. The shuttle baton in the relay must be directly passed, not tossed between the two runners; no other participant may intervene
Scoring:
Results from all events are calculated for team points.
Athlete of the meet is based on most individual points from their
running and field events, not a relay unless we need to break a tie.
In that case, the 400 will carry more weight than the shuttle, but the athlete must have competed in the relay.
Awards:
(Please explain the following information to your athletes)
The fastest 6 times from the running event heats will be awarded.
Please help your parents and athletes understand that even though an athlete may place high in their heat,
they may not have one of the 6th fastest times among all the athletes in their event
Individual Awards: 1st through 6th place ribbons in each event.
Points awarded to schools for team trophy competition:
1st = 6pts, 2nd = 5pts, 3rd = 4pts, 4th = 3pts, 5th = 2 pts, 6th = 1pt
Boy and Girl Athlete of the meet for each division (large and small schools)
1st through 3rd place team trophies for Small School division
1st through 3rd place team trophies for Large School division
