| | The Horror behind the gate
Under the premise of caring for animals, a troubled woman started collecting her small victims and kept them in despicable conditions. Many were kept in filthly crates day and night. See Pictures of the conditions at the Lodestar Shelter in Arkansas, before the rescue in 2002. |

| A Repeat Offender |
Collectors (read study by Tufts University) will start up again, and again, until they get the mental help they need. In 1992, when Vicci Andrews lived in Florida an injunction was placed on her in order to get her to improve the living conditions of the animals she had. Read that injunction here. This helped for a while, but Ms. Andrews was unable to continue to comply with the inspections imposed on by the injunction. She moved to Arkansas. |

Three Times (is NOT) A Lady| It doesn't stop. Following the 2002 rescue of the dogs and cats, Andrews moved from the Cove, AR location and has a NEW collection of suffering, helpless victims in Hatfield, AR -- with the help of donations totalling over $9K in 2003. |

The Rescue in 2002 was not Perfect
| Getting authorities to rescue the animals which were held captive at Lodestar was not easy. Eventually, a new president came on board at the local Humane Society. She saw the conditions and worked with others to save the animals. The intention was good. The result, however, was not what most wanted. The president had no experience and was not open to suggestions from experienced peopleDue to the mishandling of funds by the president of the HS, donations stopped.Vicci Andrews would not relinquish custody so that the animals could go to good foster homes and be adopted outThere was no room at the shelter and overcrowding became an immediate issue, with no remedy until the case was closed.Animals suffered at PCHS. They would have suffered if left at Lodestar, though, too. The stay at PCHS was temporary, the animals at Lodestar are prisoners forever. Some of the rescued animals were eventually placed in homes, this would have never happened if they had been left at the deplorable Lodestar Shelter. To see a contrast of conditions go to then and now. The 'now' was at PCHS in the beginning. The conditions did deteriorate the longer that Andrews refused to relinquish custody.
The ordeal was a nightmare for over a year. On March 10th, 2003, Vicci Andrews lost custody of the animals, but only after causing havoc by never relinquishing the ownership of the animals so that they could be placed elsewhere. You can read more about this here Ms. Andrews has made a feeble attempt to take the spotlight from the cruel conditions she keeps animals in by complaining about what happened to the animals taken from her. Vicci Andrews is consistent in never recognizing her responsibility for the outcome! |
