Duck Watches
Saturdays 11am - 1pm
Fall: Saturdays - 2nd to last week of October, 3rd to last week of November, and 1st week of December
Winter: Saturdays - 2nd to last week of January, 2nd week of February, and 1st week of March

These free, informal watches are open to the general public of all ages.
Recreational birders with spotting scopes volunteer to locate and
identify common and rare waterfowl and gulls, both near shore and far out
in Lake Michigan. . . . . . Dress warmly.

From 11 AM to Noon, meet on the EAST side of Lincoln Memorial Drive,
south of Ravine Road and north of Bradford Beach across from the running track.

From Noon to 1 PM, we may drive to McKinley Marina, the Coast Guard
Impoundment, or other sites to search for rarities.

Warbler Walks
Saturdays 8:30 to 10:00 am
Spring: Saturdays from second to last week of April to 4th week of May
Fall: Saturdays from second to last week of August to 4th week of September

These free, informal walks are open to the general public of all ages.
Recreational birders familiar with Lake Park volunteer to lead people
of all skill levels to the best birding spots in the park.
Beginning birders are especially welcome. Camaraderie and
discussion of diverse environmental issues are encouraged.

From bridges over ravines birders can look down on thrushes, sparrows,
and warblers. Red-headed Woodpeckers and Eastern Bluebirds
occasionally visit the woodland edges.
Sandpipers, gulls and ducks migrate along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

Meet on the WEST side of the Warming House
near the tennis courts on the north end of the park.

In early September in Milwaukee, sunset is at about 7:10
Count Chimney Swifts as they dive into chimneys to roost before migrating to eastern Peru.

Christmas Bird Counts in Milwaukee occur on the
first Saturday during the annual Audubon count period, which runs from December 14th through January 5th
1 to 2 pm - Chili Lunch to get warm before counting
especially, but not exclusively, for counters from 8 am - noon count at Urban Ecology Center
2 to 4 pm - Count and learn about taking censuses and the role of citizens in the monitoring of wildlife.
4 pm till frozen - Owl Prowl, E. Screech Owls likely to be heard.
4:30 - 6 pm - Delegate from Lake Park presents results at meeting at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center
for counters for northeastern Milwaukee County
