# Evening Grosbeak as well. We have had
# Bell's Vireo in the ravines in late April and early May. I have had

Acknowledgments
for compiling this checklist of birds seen in Lake Park, Milwaukee Wisconsin:
The checklist was first prepared in February 2003 by Paul Hunter for Lake Park Friends
and includes ALL species spotted on organized bird
walks or reported, and verified, by individual birders in the park.
Tim Vargo, Urban Ecology Center, started this list after leading bird hikes in Lake Park around 1997.
The Nature Committee of Lake Park Friends,
put out the first printed checklist in l998.
Dolores Knopfelmacher chaired the committee at that time.
Additions to the list from 1998 resulted in the first version of this list.
They came from Managers of Lake Park when people would call (e.g. turkeys),
from a joint hike with the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology,
from the WSO hotline and WisBirdNet,
from Urban Ecology Center's listserve (king eider) and
a lot of different people, not all of whom can be named.

and many others for sharing their lists and photos.
Dolores Knopfelmacher, while a board member of Lake Park Friends,
inspired the production of this list and published the "Birds in Lake Park" brochure.
Marcia Coles (LPF President) and Dolores Knopfelmacher asked the
Milwaukee County Parks Department to draw a model map - initially to use as a "history" map.
Dolores modified it for the bird brochure and for the Lake Park Tree Walk.
Judith Lindsay drew the picture of the Lake Park Lion with Birds.
