Notes.... The 1860 Federal Mortality Schedule lists persons who died in the county between 1June1859 and 1June1860. The questions asked were name, age, sex, color, free or slave, married or widowed, place of birth, month of death, proffession, disease or cause of death and number of days ill. It is estimated that these deaths were under reported by about 20%. They are still a valued source of information as deaths were not generally recorded elsewhere for these years.

I have omitted free or slave as all are free. I have also omitted color. All other columns I give if legible and if the informations is provided. It is hard to read and I have made errors. You are encouraged to view the original. Microfilm of these mortality schedules are available at the State Library of Ohio 274 E. 1st Ave Columbus, OH 43201. Microfilm T1159 1860 Mort. Sched. 3 Roll 30. They have a very good genealogy section.
