WHAT

lec-tor n. 1. A person chosen or commissioned to proclaim Holy Scriptures in church services.  2. Someone personally and prayerfully involved in proclaiming the Word of God with the central purpose of celebrating and refreshing the faith of the hearers.  3. One who combines strong personal faith, good communications skills and spiritual inspiration to cause the assembly to listen to what is being proclaimed.  4. The church community’s storyteller who brings life and flesh to the Word of God.

HOW

  1. Be a mature, fully initiated Catholic.

  2. Be a registered parishioner.

  3. Have a strong desire to competently proclaim the Word.

  4. Complete the Lector Training Course.

  5. Undergo the Lector Mentoring Program.

  6. Be recommended to and selected by the Lector Leadership.

  7. Be commissioned by the Pastor to the Lector Ministry.

  8. Be committed to the ministry for one year.

WHY

… you’ve got this nagging feeling in your gut that you’ve got to.

Christ is present in His word since it He himself who speaks  
when the Holy Scriptures are read in the Church.
