Wow, thanks for the unbiased information. I have been searching the net for reviews and comments about the many filters available. I had almost settled on ****** until I read your article. It really ticks me off that the stated and expected performance is so exaggerated (to be kind). I am also looking for a drinking water filter and would appreciate any information you might have about them. I would like to see your cold water test results too, if that isn't too much trouble.

Hey, those shower filter reviews were great. You had a low budget I'm sure but you quite simply showed how much chlorine got by the filter and more importantly how what the cold water test revealed in terms of what we are breathing in our showers...Thanks a bunch

Hello Review Guy: I have just read the Chlorine Shower Filter Comparison Chart which you publish online. Some of us have developed very strange and irritating skin conditions within the past six months. Our San Francisco water supply with its chloramine additive (2004) is suspect. Can you please give us more detail about the shower filter units which did the best jobs at removing chloramine. We would understand that chloramine in the water supply can only be "neutralized" or "removed with specific treatment methods" (sfwater.org). How precisely do the shower units rid the water of chloramine. And, have you heard of any negative health conditions arising as a possible result of this change in our water supply? Thanks in advance for any further information you would care to share.
Hi, Ever since I have moved to U.S., I have been losing hair. I finally decided to order a shower filter but this decision was delayed by 6 months...since there are so many filters out there. While searching the net, I came across your review on various filters. I'm basing my decision on that...Thanks for the good work and do send me links for other product reviews. Just wanted to say a quick "thank you" for the shower filter review. Lots of people wouldn't really care about a shower filter, yet smart people who actually care about their health and do some research about the levels of chemicals in our water would appreciate a review like this. I've been in the plumbing business for 2 years and have yet to see anyone with a shower filter (and I do a lot of work in upper class homes).

Thank-you for your information filled review. My wife suffers from asthma and allergies and has to take her "puffer" with her, into the shower, because of the high chlorine, and subsequent odor, in our water. She even has to cut her shower short on occasion, because she can't get her breath. I was almost taken in by the claims made by some filter manufactures. Your report really opened my eyes. Thank-you again.
Hi, Thanks for clearing up a lot of the confusion around shower filters. Our City changed over to Chloramines last year so I know our shower filter is useless now and I'm wondering what we can do. 29 Bay Area Cities near San Francisco who are all on the Hetch-Hetchy water system now get the highest amount of Chloramine disinfectant allowed by regulations (because the Hetch-Hetchy system is one of the largest in the country). A lot of people are complaining about adverse symptoms, asthma and skin rashes. Apparently no human studies were ever conducted on chloramines by the EPA or anyone else. Exposure to Chloramines in the bath and shower is 600% greater than by drinking it. As more people learn about this there will be more need to find some solutions. Do you have any info about chloramine removal?

I just wanted to take a second and thank you for all your work. I must say, in my eyes, you have consumer reports beat! i turned to them for reviews of water filters and air cleaners but they really don't get serious about them. I understand they can't review all brands put out on the market but i wish they would at least review ones that actually work. Not the mickey mouse products put out for ignorant consumers or just those looking to make the air in the homes just "smell" better! I can't thank you enough and i want you to know that all your hard work was VERY much appreciated. My daughter and i are very allergic, both asthmatics and we also live in a town that has added chlorine to their water and I am now forced to buy bottled water because the chlorine was giving me a stomach ache. The doctor told me that chlorine and all its compadres is notorious for stomach complaints in people's drinking water! As soon as I switched to Poland Springs water my stomach ache miraculously disappeared! I book marked you and will return often to see what else you have decided to review! :) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE review lots of things, especially things that consumer reports doesn't even touch- like SERIOUS water systems and/or SERIOUS HEPA cleaners. These are two things i am looking to buy very soon. Again- thank you and God bless you for all your hard work!!! PS Don't pay ANY attention to those people that are complaining- they OBVIOUSLY do not make a decent product or why would they worry?

I don't understand why "famous brands" can't do what they claim... Maybe the filters are more expensive? Wouldn't you think "top" brand companies would test their own products? The results are are little disheartening since you'd think that paying a few bucks and going with top brands would produce the better results. I don't know how I stumbled upon your site, just googling around and happened to click on it. Thanks for your report....
