Background

I grew up in Durham, NC.

In January of 1998 I completed a Business Administration degree at NC Wesleyan College. I graduated May 9th 1998  Summa Cum Laude. In March of 2000 I completed the course work for a B.S. in Computer Information Systems (B.S.C.I.S.) and graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2000.

I was involved in engineering the original construction of TV-22 in Raleigh, NC. Most of my career has been in the mobile communications industry.

In 1980 I co-founded Direct Call, Inc., a Durham, NC company that continues to provide high-quality, low-cost radio communications services to area businesses. Today, we provide LTR trunking radio service to most of mid-NC, southern VA, and north central SC.

Interests, Activities & Plans

I have been a Ham Radio operator for about 30 years. My call is WA4BAN. I hold an Extra class license. The 146.940 repeater in Butner, NC is my primary two meter frequency. A 100 watt Yaesu FT757GX with a G5RV style antenna about 10 feet up make up my HF station. I enjoy working CW with a Vibroplex Iambic key. Click here to see my station.

I completed a two year study of the entire Bible. This is the Crossways program led by the late Pastor Paul D. Kibler at Resurrection Lutheran Church, where I was a member in Cary, NC before moving to Wake Forest, NC. Our new church home is Hope Lutheran Church in Wake Forest. Our Pastor is Preston E. Wagner. I am now leading the two year Crossways class at our church. We have graduated two classes and have a class in session. Crossways at Hope Lutheran Church

Other Interesting Things

My wonderful wife is Dee Miller Rasmussen. She is Manager Therapeutic Area, Data Management at GlaxoSmithKline. She has enjoyed learning Italian and we have many friends in Verona, Italy, a beautiful city Dee lived and worked in for six months in 1997. We try to visit there once a year.

We love our home in the Town of Wake Forest. Our Home.

We have three daughters, Cynthia Marie, who gave us three grandchildren, Kristina Ann Strombo who has given us two grandchildren, and Erika Sigrid.

Our grandchildren are: Cammi, Benji, Maddi, the newest one, Sigrid, and Ever who's life was too short, but we will remember forever.

We had a beautiful Dalmatian named Rosie, to whom we had to say goodbye after 16 years together. We miss her greatly.

My hobbies are short wave radio listening, particularly US Coast Guard and Air Force, BBC, and amateur radio.

I am an active stock trader and also actively mange our 401k accounts.

I enjoy cooking and one of my favorite tv channels is the Food Network.

My full name is Henrik Benjamin Wergeland Rasmussen II.

My father immigrated from Norway, and became a U.S. citizen. He was a very intelligent, and interesting man, and an inspiration to me. He died September 21, 2006. He is certainly missed.

He met my mother, Mary Bowen Rasmussen near Raleigh, NC. She learned Norwegian from him and cooks great Norwegian food.
