Academy Schedule
June 13 is arrival day. The Institute begins on June 14.
Each participant will conduct the Classical sized or Romantic sized orchestra on each of 6 rehearsal days (3 days each week). Podium time for these orchestra sessions will be approximately 15 minutes for each participant.
Evening sessions with the piano sextet provide additional instructional time for participants to work through the next day's repertoire. Each conductor will have approximately 15 minutes daily with the sextet to prepare for each rehearsal.
The schedule is rigorous and all participants should arrive fully prepared to conduct their repertoire selections.
The two "Classical" orchestra concerts are presented at the end of the first week, and two large orchestra concerts conclude the second week of the Institute.
Maestro Balan leads morning motion and relaxation exercises, and Maestro Gambetta presents afternoon sessions of Laban training designed to help conductors make connections between the music and their gestures. Score review and discussion sessions with the faculty follow each rehearsal.
During the Institute, there will be one free day with no rehearsal or concert. Optional side trips are available to explore the Romanian countryside, monasteries and culture.
Departure day is June 27.
