An excellent place to learn a tremendous amount about model rockets is in the newsgroup rec.models.rockets, often referred to as simply RMR. If you don't have newsgroup access, group messages can be read through your web browser at: Google Groups. This is an excellent resource. Even if you have newsgroup access, you still want to check out Google Groups. Through Google Groups you can search through an archive of all un-cancelled newsgroup messages.

If you decide to subscribe to RMR, get the FAQ (list of Frequently Asked Questions - each newsgroup has one) first, and read most of it. Then "lurk" for a few days (read messages without posting) to get a sense for the personalities there. WARNING: some newsgroup users can be a bit cantankerous. An improperly worded post, or posting a question that is answered in the FAQ, can bring a barrage of blunt posts or even "flames" (mean-spirited posts that range from not-quite-constructive criticism to downright insults). From my own experience, I have found most of the veterans in RMR to be a bit more laid-back than those in other groups. A sure way to set them off is to ask a question related to pyrotechnics or amatuer rocketry (home made engines and the like). These questions are best answered in alt.pyrotechnics.
