Elon Park Disc Golf

Charlotte, NC

What is Disc Golf:

Disc Golf, also called Frisbee Golf, in simplest terms, is throwing a frisbee at a target. The course is laid out like a regular golf course. You take your first throw from a `tee` area. Then you walk to wherever your throw landed, and you throw again.

The target is a metal basket with chains suspended above it. The idea is to get your frisbee in the basket - the chains are just there to help.

By the way, it`s called Disc Golf because of some legalities with the use of the term `frisbee`.

How Much Does It Cost:

Nothing! Almost all courses free-to-play public facilities. No tee-time required - just show up and play!

Who Can Play:

Nearly anyone can play. The Elon Park course has been designed for children, families, and beginners of all ages. The holes are shorter than normal, and we`ve tried to make it an easy hike for kids, parents, grandparents, and even rugged strollers. However, as always, SAFETY FIRST. Please note that during some times of the year you may encounter fire ants, poison ivy, or other natural hazards. We`ll do the best we can to control them, but it`s always best to be on the lookout.

What Equipment Do I Need:

All you need is a frisbee. Regular frisbees will do just fine, although there are also special discs especially designed for disc golf. You can certainly start with a regular frisbee. If you like it and want to try a special golf disc, you can explore that later. Other than that, you just need some comfortable walking shoes.

Where Can I Buy Golf Discs:

Our course supporter Infinity`s End sells golf discs, including those made by another supporter Innova Discs. There are also lots of online retailers, and even some sporting goods stores carry them.

Is There Par:

Yes there is. The par can be found on the scorecard. Par for the short tees has been set for a beginning-level player. Don`t worry if you don`t get par - most people don`t when they first start. The longer tees have been designed for a more advanced level of player. On this course, all of the holes play as a Par 3 for that level of player.
