Eagles Transactions
                -------------------

December 24, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles released defensive tackle Keith Rucker.
   * - Expected to be invited to mini-camp and signed when the
free agency period begins in February.

The Eagles signed linebacker Terry Crews.
   * - With Farmers status uncertain, Crews was signed for depth.
Look for Kelly to play the middle, and Willis to move outside.

December 17, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles released safety Barry Wilburn and defensive tackle
Kevin Johnson.
   * - Dawkins is healthy and Johnson was a dissapointment.

The Eagles signed defensive tackle Keith Rucker to a two-year
contract worth $450k.
   * - Rucker apparently is in better shape than he has been but
was signed primarily as someone the Eagles want to look at
       over the off-season.

The Eagles re-signed wide receiver Calvin Williams to a one-year
veteran minimum contract.
   * - Will become the third or fourth receiver in various pass
       situations.

December 11, 1996
-----------------

The Eagles placed defensive tackle Andy Harmon on injured
reserve.
   * - A nagging cartiledge/ligament injury had forced him to
miss all but 2 games anyway.

The Eagles re-signed defensive back Barry Wilburn.
   * - With Dawkins groin injury, the Eagles needed some depth.

November 27, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles signed wide receiver Brandon Harrison and safety
Thomas McGaughey to the practice squad.
   * - Harrison was a '95 draft pick of the Chargers and McGaughey
was a rookie free agent in the Bengals 1996 training camp.

November 22, 1996
----------------
The Eagles waived fullback Kevin Bouie.
   * - Backup fullback who had been deactivated for every game so
       far in 1996.

The Eagles signed wide receiver Dialleo Burks from the practice
squad.
   * - Impressed in training camp. Burks is a pretty big receiver
at 6'2", and the coaches want to give him a shot.

November 20, 1996
----------------
The Eagles place veteran wide reciever Mark Ingram on injured
reserve.
   * - Had been a dissapointment and had been deactivated for most
       of the year.

squad.
   * - Will provide some depth at middle linebacker, and might be
       seen on special teams.

October 28, 1996
----------------

The Eagles signed Pro Bowl linebacker William Thomas a 5-year
contract extension worth $15.15M.
   * - Thomas would have been a free agent at the end of the 1996
season. At least $850k of that will count agaisnt the 1996 cap,
reducing the contracts impact against future caps. He is now
under contract through the 2001 season.

The Eagles signed fullback Kevin Turner a 3-year contract
extension worth $5.2M.
   * - Turner would have been a free agent at the end of the 1997.
The contract restructured his 1996 salary so that a portion
of it counts against the 1996 cap. He is now under contract
       through the 2000 season. (10/29)

October 22, 1996
----------------
The Eagles released veteran cornerback/safety Barry Wilburn.
   * - Wilburn simply was not covering well, and wasnt making much
       of a special teams contribution.

The Eagles signed free agent defensive back Johnny Thomas.
   * - Strictly a scare tactic to remind the players that they
can be replaced at any time. Will probably be a special
       teams contributor.

October 15, 1996
----------------
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed former Eagle 1996 draft pick
Steve White from their practive squad to their active roster.
   * - All the Eagles 1996 draft picks have NFL jobs, either on

September 18, 1996
------------------
The Eagles signed safety James Fuller and outside linebacker/
defensive end Darion Conner to one year, veteran minimum contracts.
   * - Conner will help provide some situational pass rush. Fuller is
a project at safety and will be used mostly on special teams.

The Eagles released defensive lineman Mark Gunn and safety
Eric Zomalt.
   * - Greg Jefferson and Darion Conner will take over Gunn's backup
defensive end duties. Zomalt just wasnt up to the task, either
as a starter or special teamer.

The New York Jets signed ex-Eagles safety Eric Zomalt.
   * - Back to Rich Kotite to be a backup strong safety.

The New Orleans Saints signed TE Tony Johnson, one of the Eagles
three 1996 6th round draft picks, to their practice squad.
   * - Dropped balls in the preseason and tended to fumble the
       ones he caught.

August 30th, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles re-signed strong safety Deral Boykin.
   * - needed a backup at strong safety.

The Eagles waived offensive guard Ben Cavil.

       Cavil to the practice squad.

-----------------
The Eagles signed fullback Chris Buckhalter, wide receiver
Dialleo Burks, cornerback Frederick Ford and linebacker Whit Marshall

chance as the season goes on. Marshall was expected to
       make the active roster.

The Denver Broncos signed ex-Eagle running back Vaughn Hebron,
terms undisclosed.
   * - He had to latch on somewhere, hes too good not to be on
       an NFL roster.

The N.Y. Jets signed ex-Eagles wide receiver Phillip Riley to
their practice squad.
   * - late round draft pick didnt quite work out for the Eagles.

August 25th, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles released strong safties Deral Boykin and Bubba
McDowell, wide receiver Dialleo Burks, offensive tackle Eric
Jonassen, linebacker Whit Marshall, fullback Fred McCrary, and
quarterback T.J. Rubely.
   * - 7 cuts needed to get to 53 man roster. The surprise is the
release of both Boykin and McDowell, leaving the Eagles
with only Zordich at strong safety.

August 22nd, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles re-signed offensive guard Guy McIntyre to a one-
year contract, for 320k, plus incentives that could go to 550k.
   * - With Wallace gone, Brooks and Mayberry will compete for
the starting LT spot. McIntyre has been brought in
to back up Panos at guard.

The Eagles signed free agent QB T.J. Rubley to a one-year,
275k contract.
   * - An arm to throw passes until Peete is healthy enough
       to practice and play.

The Eagles waived running back Vaughn Hebron and wide
receiver Greg Smith.
   * - Smith was a training camp body, but Hebron was a hard
cut. It came down to Witherspoon returning kicks better.

August 20th, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles released defensive end Sebastian Barrie, fullback
Chris Buckhalter, linebackers Steve White and Joe Cummings, wide
receivers Khevin Pratt, Phillip Riley and Cedric Zachery, cornerbacks
Frederick Ford, Jerome Henderson and Trtistan Moss, offensive tackles
Steve Wallace and Chris Oltmans and tight end Tony Johnson.
   * - a combination of training camp bodies and late draft picks
and veterans that didnt pan out, Wallace being the big name.

July 30, 1996
-------------
The Eagles waived third year quarterback Jay Fiedler.
   * - Had an uphill battle fighting Bobby Hoying for the third QB
spot... he asked to be released to hook on with another team
and the Eagles granted his request.

July 29, 1996
-------------
The Eagles signed free agent cornerback Don Griffin to a two-year
contract, with base salaries of 450k and 525k, a 300k signing bonus,
and an additional 825k in possible performance incentives.
   * - Moves right into the nickleback role, and provides a starter

       Taylor during the season.

July 25, 1996
-------------
The Eagles signed free agent fullback Brad Gaines to a one-year,

   * - A tough, but expected release. The Eagles have plenty of bodies
(Seay, Ingram, Jones) competing for WR spots 2-4 and Williams
$1.2 million salary made him expendable.

June 20, 1996
-------------
The Eagles signed fourth round draft pick Ray Farmer to a three-year
696k deal (mimimum all three years + 205k signing bonus).
   * - Expected to compete for starting strong-side linebacker spot

Walker did last year... no place for him in the current system.

June 13, 1996
-------------
The Eagles signed first round draft pick Jermane Mayberry to a
5-year, 4.7M dollar contract, with an additional 400k possible in
incentives.
   * - Was important to get this deal done early to get Dunn and
and Dawkins negotiations under way. Mayberry will likely be
       the starting left guard.

June 10, 1996
-------------
The Green Bay Packers signed Eagles free agent wide receiver Rob
Carpenter to a one-year contract, terms undisclosed.
   * - with the overhaul at wide receiver, there was no room for
Carpenter, an adequate 3rd receiver after Martin was hurt
       last year.

June 5, 1996
------------
The Eagles re-signed defensive back Barry Wilburn to a one-year,
275k contract.

May 23, 1996
------------
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Eagles free agent tight end Reggie
Johnson to a two-year contract, terms undisclosed.

       try to re-sign him.

May 13, 1996
------------
The New York Jets signed Eagles free agent offensive lineman Harry
Boatswain to a contract, terms undisclosed.

       insured he wouldnt be back.

The Atlanta Falcons signed Eagles free agent offensive tackle Antone
Davis to a two-year, 1.9M dollar contract.
   * - Never lived up to his billing and the Eagles told him to
look elsewhere for a job after the 1995 season. Position was
significantly upgraded by signing of Richard Cooper. The Eagles
are happy to see him on a 1996 opponents roster.

       acquired from Cleveland/Baltimore in 1995.

third round draft pick Bobby Hoying.

contract, terms undisclosed.

       all muscle. Devastating run-blocker.

The Eagles selected Jason Dunn, TE from Eastern Kentucky with their
first second round selection, #54 overall.
   * - Fast and big. Potential work ethic and attitude problems caused
him to slip out of the first round range. Sounds a lot like Bobby
Taylor did last year, when he slipped to the Eagles at #49.

The Eagles selected Brian Dawkins, S from Clemson with their second
second round selection, #61 overall.
   * - projected to compete with Eric Zomalt for the FS spot and to

might be moved to guard in the mean time.

April 12, 1996
--------------
The Indianaplois Colts signed Eagles free agent cornerback Derrick
Frazier to a multi-year deal averaging 350k per year.
   * - toast... looked great in the preseason, scortched early and often
when it counted... replaced in lineup by Bobby Taylor, and beaten
out for the nickle back job by Jerome Henderson. He would have been
a restricted free agent, but the Eagles did not tender a qualifying
offer. Originally a third round pick of Eagles in 1993 draft.

April 9, 1996
-------------
The Eagles re-signed defensive tackle Kevin Johnson to a one

contract worth 350-500k with incentives.
   * - Stubbs turned down the same deal from the Eagles to be in his
off-season home (Miami) where he has a business. He was a solid
contributor in 1995 making 6 starts, 3 at left DE and 3 at right
DE when Fuller and Mamula missed games due to injury. He had a

--------------
The Eagles re-signed quarterback Rodney Peete to a one year, 1.5M dollar
contract. The Eagles have an option on the 1997 season for 2.0M.
   * - This is what was expected. Peete and Detmer will be fighting for
the starting quarterback spot. Peete has a year of experience in the
offense under his belt, and Detmer has four years. The QB situation is
       much improved from last year.

March 10, 1996
--------------
The Miami Dolphins signed Eagles free agent wide receiver Fred Barnett
to a 5 year, 8.5M dollar contract.
   * - Barnett is a good receiver who showed a tendancy for avoiding
contact in the past few years. He was seeking in excess of 2M a
year. One of several 2nd-tier NFL receivers. The Eagles never
       contacted Barnett, and vice-versa.

March 2, 1996
-------------
The Dolphins declined to match the Eagles 16.5M, five year offer sheet
to Dolphins transitional free agent cornerback Troy Vincent.

February 29, 1996
-----------------
The Philadelphia Eagles signed New Orleans Saints free agent
right tackle Richard Cooper to a four year, 10M contract.

       and left tackle.

The New Orleans Saints signed Eagles free agent cornerack Mark
McMillian to a three year, 4.92M contract.
   * - hated to lose a great cover guy... but 5'7" is too short to
pay 1.64M a year. 10th round pick of Eagles in 1992 draft.
Had eight interceptions in 47 career starts as an Eagle.
Position was definitely upgraded with the acquisition of Vincent.

-----------------
The San Diego Chargers signed Eagles free agent linebacker Kurt
Gouveia to a three year deal worth 4.3M.

contributor if not used every down. Signed as a free agent in 1995.

February 26, 1996
-----------------
The N.Y. Jets signed Eagles free agent offensive lineman John
Hudson, terms undiclosed.

round pick of Eagles in 1990 draft.

February 23, 1996
-----------------
The Denver Broncos signed Eagles free agent linebacker Bill
Romanowski to a five year, 9M dollar contract.
   * - was to be phased out in favor of Marc Woodard in '96. Solid,
but unspectacular. Veteran leadership will be missed, as a
player very replaceable. Traded to Eagles from 49ers in 1994.

February 16, 1996
-----------------
The following players, who would have been restricted free agents

before Kurt Gouveia was signed. Sixth round pick of Eagles in 1993

often when it counted... replaced in lineup by Bobby Taylor.
Third round pick of Eagles in 1993 draft.

The following players were tendered offers and are Eagles restricted
free agents.

Lester Holmes, ofeensive guard
   * - starter at right tackle until sidelined for season by knee injury.

The Eagles also have rights of first refusal to the following
unrestricted free agents

Mark Gunn, defensive lineman
   * - saw action at defensive end and defensive tackle in 1995, started
a few games at both tackle and end due to injuries. Signed as a free
agent in 1995. Would be good to have back.

February 13, 1996
-----------------
The Eagles signed offensive tackle Troy Drake from their practice
squad to a one year, 131k contract.
    * - signed as a non-drafted rookie in 1995, spent all year on practice
        squad.

The Eagles signed strong safety Michael Zordich to a three year, 2.6M
dollar contract.
    * - signed as free agent in 1994, starting strong safety, calls
secondary coverages. Valuable leadership in secondary. Hard hitter
will be phased into a situational safety by the time the contract
        expires. Approaching end of career.

January 26, 1996
