Grooming the trails!!
2/1/2010 The trails are thin but ride-able, we groomed 117 to Rangeley today and will groom most other trails as well. Be careful of some small washouts and thin spots. The holes are filling in each time we groom. 117 from Mexico to Byron has a section of plowed road and is kind of scratchy but passable. Will groom 117 north again at the end of the week. WE need more snow soon but we will make due with what we have for now. DO NOT PARK IN THE ROXBURY TOWN OFFICE PARKING LOT (FORMER PRECISION MACHINE SHOP) OR YOU COULD BE TOWED. THE FIRE TRUCK IS PARKED IN THAT BUILDING, IF THE TRUCK CAN NOT GET OUT AND A HOUSE BURNS YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE. Park and ride in Byron at Coos Canyon, at Roxbury Pond on the left just before Ellis Pond Variety, Dennis Daniels owner of Ellis Pond Variety plows this park and ride for the club, it is the ATV club park and ride. Also just north of Roxbury Village on the right.
Please support the businesses that support us, we have a couple of guide services to choose from and several places with great accommodations. MOUNTAIN WOMAN GUIDE SERVICE will guide you on snowmobile trips or hiking trips. East Branch Guide Service will guide you on snowmobile trips or hunting and fishing. Coos Canyon Cabins and Campground has nice cabins and a campground right on the trail. The American Dream on Roxbury Pond has a cottage right on Roxbury Pond with access to the trails. Ellis Pond Variety has cabins on Roxbury Pond and great food and gas and the trail goes right through the parking lot of the store.
Maps are available at Ellis Pond Variety for a $3.00 donation or by mail for a $5.00 donation by sending check or cash to; Slippery Sliders S.C. P.O. Box 164 Roxbury Me. 04275
