Raleigh Scottish Country Dancers Dance With Rampant Enthusiasm The Raleigh Scottish Country Dancers (RSCD) is a not-for-profit organization promoting and preserving Scottish dancing and culture in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. The Raleigh Scottish Country Dancers conduct weekly classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. Instruction includes technique, figures, and dance directions. You need not have a partner to participate.
Scottish Country Dancing is the social dancing of Scotland.
Scots of all walks of life
have enjoyed country dancing for centuries in barns and ballrooms. Many of
the dances and tunes popular today were written more than 200 years ago.
The Raleigh Scottish Country Dancers participate in numerous performances throughout the year and sponsor an annual Valentine’s Dance.
The
Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS),
through its branches and affiliates, collects, preserves, and promotes
Scottish Country Dancing throughout the world. The RSCDS administers
examinations and awards a “Teacher’s Certificate of the Society” to
candidates who demonstrate their knowledge and technique as instructors of
Scottish country dancing. The teachers
for the Raleigh Scottish Country Dancers have been certificated by the RSCDS. |
