HARD START RELAY KIT INSTALLATION

***************************
CONTENTS:

1 kit relay
1 kit wiring loom
1 15 amp blade-type fuse
1 kit mounting screw
4 cable ties

***************************
IMPORTANT:

Take vehicle out of gear.
Disconnect Negative (-) battery cable from battery.
Ensure the vehicle will not roll over you when you are underneath it.

***************************
PRE-INSTALLATION:

Climb underneath vehicle - passenger side, behind the rear wheel. Have a 13mm wrench or deep socket, a 1/8" drill, and some carb/brake cleaner handy. None of these items are included in the kit. Oh, and bring this kit along with you underneath there as well.

Find the electrical connectors that attach to the starter/solenoid. Spray them clean with the brake/carb cleaner. Be careful not to get that stuff in your eyes.

INSTALLATION:

Select a location close to the starter to mount the kit relay. Drill the pilot hole. Attach the kit wiring loom to the kit relay. Put the kit Black wire onto the kit mounting screw before putting the kit mounting screw through the kit relay to mount it. The kit relay terminals should face downward or horizontally when mounted. Once the relay is firmly mounted, and you are sure the kit Black wire is making good ground contact (from the mounting screw), you may proceed.

Remove the existing Red/Black wire (the one with the female spade connector) from Terminal 50 on the starter and attach that existing Red/Black wire to the kit White wire (the one with the male covered spade connector), ensuring a firm, solid connection. Connect the kit Yellow wire (the one with the female spade connector) to where you just removed the vehicle Red/Black wire from (Terminal 50).

Using your 13mm wrench/socket, disconnect the vehicle positive battery cable (mine is Black) from starter/solenoid Terminal 30. Attach kit Blue wire (via the large ring connector) to Terminal 30 on the starter/solenoid and re-install the vehicle battery cable over it. Ensure a 15 amp blade-type fuse is in the in-line fuse holder.

Clean up the wiring with the cable ties, making sure the wires don’t rub against sharp or hot surfaces.
