SAVS is a member of a much larger organization known as the Lone Star Vegetarian Network.  This umbrella group, under the leadership of director Shirley Wilkes-Johnson (a 39 year vegetarian and 12 year vegan who teaches gourmet vegan cooking classes in Houston) incorporates each of the local vegetarian societies in Texas and we meet twice a year to share ideas and organize the year's biggest event, the Annual Lone Star Vegetarian Chili Cook-Off.
