Artist Statement

 

Nature in her myriad forms is the geneses for my Nature Spirits. I spend months combing remote beaches, deserts and mountains searching for materials. Seed pods, dead cactus, gourds, driftwood and other found elements become rich sources of exploration back in the studio. These found treasures begin to develop 'attitude' as each piece takes form. My challenge is to assemble each 'SPIRIT' in ways that highlight the natural beauty of the elements and honors the environment from which they were created.

Spirits stepping lightly...

              Leaving no footprints...

                       And sometimes...

                              Allowing us to glimpse their 'Magic'.
