Welcome to our Web site

Both Martha and Tom are cancer survivors.

Tom had surgery for prostate cancer in September of 1995, radiation treatment in 1999 and participated in three experimental immunotherapy treatment programs at Duke University Medical Center.  He is currently under the care of his urologist in Greensboro.  He receives an injection of Lupron about every nine months to control the growth of the cancer.  His urologist says he will live to a ripe old age.

Martha had surgery for breast cancer in March of 1997. Because of the post operative pathology report, and subsequent discovery of metastasis on her liver, she participated in the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at Duke University Medical Center in September of 1997. Beginning in April of 1998 she began to participate in two experimental immunotherapy programs at DUMC involving the development of a cancer vaccine.  Three years later she was declared cancer free.

Both Tom and Martha have advanced degrees from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Martha holds a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies and Tom holds not only a Masters of Education but also a Doctor of Education.

Martha retired as director of Randolph County Department of Social Services January 1, 2007 after 39 years of service to the county.  Tom retired from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Division of Information Technology the same day after serving as director of several Information Technology departments and 27 years of service to the state.

As evidenced on the Photos page, they have enjoyed traveling.
