Saint Pius Tenth PreSchool

Philosophy:  Our preschool strives to provide a caring, nurturing place to learn, grow, and play while developing and respecting each child's unique gifts and talents.  Religion is a very important aspect of who we are as a school, and in preschool we learn about God and the Catholic Faith through daily prayer, songs, finger plays, bible stories, crafts and celebrations.

Preschool Staff: Mrs. Monica Smith currently teaches our preschool.  Mrs. Smith has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Ed. (N-6) from Nazareth College of Rochester, and a Master's Degree from SUNY Geneseso in Elementary Ed. (N-6).  Mrs. Cheri Hayden is our full time preschool aide.  This is her fourth year working with our preschool program.

Special Classes:  Each preschool session attends P.E., Music and Library once a week.  Our full time preschool aide attends all specials with the students.

Off-Site Experiences:  We currently schedule about one Off-Site Experience per month for each preschool session.  Parents are responsible for transporting their child to and from the Off-Site Experiences as well as supervising their own child throughout the experience.  Some of the places we visit include:  Gates and Chili Fire Departments, Strong Museum , RMSC, Stokoe Farms, Gro-Moore Farms, and Tiny Tots RPO Concerts.

Registration:  Registration for the 2009-2010 school year for pre-k through 6th grade begins Monday January 26, 2009.  First preference is given to families that are currently enrolled in the school.

Arranging a visit:  If you’d like to arrange a visit to our preschool, contact Mrs. Monica Smith at msmith3@dordcs.org or call 247-5650.
