Union Station

This model was created for a member of Flower City Tinplate Trackers (FCTT) .

It was modeled after Frank Ellison's Fillmore Station article from 1948

This model was made to fit over a module of the club and measures 58" wide x 38" deep and sets 7" above the 7 passenger tracks that run below the station.

This project took over a month and a half to complete and hundreds of hours.

Below is a photo of Mr. Ellison's model from the article

Station is made from 1/4" & 1/8" MDF and block work is hand scribed

All the doors & windows are by Grandt Line except for the Large arch windows which are custom made.

Roofing material is a textured black styrene which was used on the station and for the passenger shelters. The passenger shelters were constructed with cast metal roof rafters and support columns by Keystone Locomotive Works .

I worked up the block work pattern on the computer first, then transferred it onto the MDF with artist's graphite paper. Columns were from a Doll house manufacture and are cast resin. I added to the bases using wood.

Used the edge the spools below for the base of the columns, to finish out the look.

Below, I'm am checking out the canopy and small window for entrance.

Below is a photo of the canopy support cables with turnbuckles and wall anchors installed

Below is the station in primer and getting ready for paint

Here is a photo of the soffit lights installed over the front entrances

This photo below shows the canopies trimmed out in brass

I used some scrap booking paper for the underside of the canopies so that there was some sort of texture.

Station walls painted and lighting and small side windows installed

This photo below  shows one of the passenger shelters.  They measure 48" long. There was a total of  eight of them.

I used 1024 roof rafters and 64 support posts

Below are some photos of the station on the layout
